A Loving Life – 1 Corinthians 13 Summer Sermon Series 2014 by Pastor Brock Scripture: 1 Corinthians 13:4a "Love is Patient. Love is Kind." What a difference Patience and Kindness makes! They are instruments of peace. Francis of Assisi prayed: "Lord make me an instrument of your peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is doubt, hope; where there is darkness, light; where there is sadness, joy." Lately we hear of a lot of voilence and loss in the world news. That makes the idea of being instruments of peace a little overwhelming. But small acts of patience and kindness remind us that in the face of fear, injury, and hatred, good does exist. Good exists in our loving attiude toward others when we show patience and kindness at home, at work, and in our community. Francis prayer concludes, "It is in giving that we recieve; it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life." Living out a loving life of patience and kindness means dying to my own selfish desires so that the needs of others might be met. That is completely counter cultural in our society today - except in the Church as God's people! How are you living out a "loving life" today? Love is Patient! Love is Kind! Practice it today!
